The largest study of is kind has shown that the beneficial effect of Prozac can boost serotonin levels in the central nervous system which is thought to improve nerve growth. The study showed that it could give movement back to paralysis stroke victims by improving motor and cognitive behaviour. Depression was also less common in patients on Prozac. I have 20 mg Prozac every morning and I can honestly say that the difference in my stiffness, pain and mind improve within an hour of getting up. To me it's a truly wonderful drug which I am quite happy to take long term. It keeps a smile on my face anyway.
