What Are NHS Walk in Centres Used for?
If you have a minor illness like a headache, ear problems, sore throat, sprains and strains, wound infections, minor burns and scalds, minor head injuries, skin conditions, chest problems and abdominal pain, insect and animal bits, minor eye injuries, or injuries to the back, shoulder or chest and even emergency contraception then you can avoid a long wait in A&E by visiting a walk in centre.
Some have xray facilities so could treat breaks but you would need to check at your local one first. Anyone can attend a walk in centre, no matter where you are just as long as you are registered with a GP in the UK.
You can turn up at any time and you will be seen by an experienced nurse who will provide you with a treatment for a large number of minor injuries and illnesses.
