Arthritis and the Weather

wind chimes I don't know about you but the weather changes definitely affect my Fibromyalgia and Arthritis. I'm sure I am not the only one who complains the cold or wet in particular make my joints ache more. The trouble is there is little scientific evidence as to why this is so, according to Professor Alan Silverman, a rheumatologist and medical director of Arthritis Research UK. One actual theory though is that it has something to do with changes in the pressure and increased fluid inside the joints can cause painful swelling. But, this shouldn't mean this effects your joints. It also doesn't seem to make sense that cold weather can be a trigger as they say some people find ice packs helpful (not me, I prefer heat pads). But, they do say that warmth and hot weather do tend to make people with arthritis feel better, so its not surprising that people feel better in warm weather.
