Get Walking to Get Healthy Week

Wales As Walking for Health schemes up and down the country get ready to take part in Get Walking Week, from today until 10th May, a national survey by the Ramblers has shown that not enough people are getting out and walking. The survey revealed that 34% of people said that they wouldn’t consider walking for more than 20 minutes to get from A to B, while a quarter are only walking, on average, for an hour or less per week. Given how much fun our walkers have on Walking for Health walks, and that walking contributes to the 150 minutes a week of physical activity we should all be getting to keep healthy, Get Walking Week is a fantastic opportunity to encourage people to reconsider! Walking for Health schemes and Ramblers groups across the country are providing free short walks out in the countryside, through cities, and along the coast. If you head to The Ramblers website you will soon find a walk near you.
