Trager Therapy for Chronic Pain and Fibromyalgia

Trager Therapy is a gentle method of movement education. It was developed by Dr. Milton Trager, after 50 years of experience with the body, as a therapist and doctor. The movements work to release unproductive physical and mental patterns to encourage deeper relaxation and increased motion. Trager bodyworks use light, gentle motions to release deep-seated physical and mental patterns which can be caused by poor posture, injuries, traumas, poor movement, and stress. It involves both table work and dance like movements. A session usually lasts from 60 – 90 minutes. No oils or lotions are used and the client is dressed for their comfort. The movements are never forced so that there is no induced pain or discomfort. There is a great Youtube video to watch on how the treatment works by Roger Hughes a Trager Therapist.  A good book on this therapy is ‘Trager for Self Healing: A Practical Guide for Living in the Present Moment’, by Audrey Mairi, which is available from Amazon and other good bookshops.
