Journal of a Back Pain Sufferer January 18th 2024

After my recent post on hobbies and a 'Journal' app suddenly appearing on my iphone I decided I would start filling it in when I felt I had something to write about.

My first journal entry was written on January 18th 2024 and started.... I was sent the book The Divided Mind: The Epidemic of Mindbody Disorders by John E. Sarno to read and write a review on it. It is said to be a groundbreaking, perennially popular book that has helped change the way we think about our health - now repackaged for a new generation of readers - Dr Sarno offers a guide to the range of psychosomatic (mindbody) disorders,  which can include chronic pain, carpal tunnel, sexual dysfunction, IBS and migraine. It is a thick book and will take some time reading as this makes it heavy to hold but I will slowly read through it and write my review on this book which sounds extremely interesting.

I watched Dragons Den on TV tonight and one particular pitch completely drew me in.

"Entrepreneur and mum, Giselle Boxer, entered the Den ready to take the Dragons on. Giselle asked for £50k and help with scaling-up her business Acu Seeds, in exchange for a 10% share in the business.

Giselle told the Dragons about her inspirational story that led to starting her own business. She was diagnosed with ME (chronic fatigue syndrome) four years ago.

I went from working in a top advertising agency, with a busy social life and exercising regularly to being mostly house bound and unable to walk for more than 5 minutes without having to get back into bed. I was told by doctors that I would never recover, work again or have children.

She told them how she believes that using a combination of diet, acupuncture, Chinese herbs and ear seeds aided her recovery within a year. Soon after this she fell pregnant, and it was whilst on maternity leave that she set up her business, Acu Seeds. "

She had a full house of Dragons wanting to sign her up. Apparently a first in the Den.

I had never heard of ear seeds before and quickly Googled it and it said that "Ear seeds are an ancient Chinese medicine tool based on acupuncture but without the need for needles. They are tiny beads that stick on the ear applying pressure on nerve endings and sending messages to the brain that certain organs or systems need support."

I quite often have acupuncture and I do find it helps with certain pains in my body in particular my neck so I really wanted to look into this more and give it a go.

Not only does Giselles site Acu Seeds offer the seeds in Gold and Silver plated they also offer a monthly earfill subscription which sounds great, but they also do an online acupressure ear seeds online certification course so you can become an ear seed practioner.

Due to such an amazing response after Dragons Den they now have sold out and the next delivery will not be available until around the 19th February but it is something that I am seriously thinking of trying so watch this space for my review.

Today is day two of my second set of antibiotics for my lung infection. I am wheezing lots and feel extremely tired. My neck is in a real spasm from all the coughing. I am unable to turn it to the left or right or look up or down and I have a new pain shooting up into my skull with pain behind my ears. Sleeping isn't brilliant so I just hope these antibiotics kick in soon.
