Journal of a Back Pain Sufferer Tuesday 6th February 2024

A couple of days agao I went for my cervical mri at a hospital about 30 minutes away. It was all soon done, I now just have to wait for the results.
We then decided to go out for lunch in a Country Hospital about 5 minutes away. Our first meal out since New Year.
I had been feeling a bit rough again and had more pain in both sides this time. I thought I had pulled a muscle from coughing initially but this seemed a bit different.
On the Sunday I decided to go through all my grandchildrens toys as I felt they were ready for a change and we planned to take them to a charity shop then look for something new(ish) in exchange. We have always done that with their toys at our house as we feel everyone benefits that way.
By the time we got home the pain was in my back and coming through to my front and it felt like a stapping pain every time I coughed. The night was awful I ended up having to sit up to sleep because it was too uncomfortable to lie down. By the morning it was pretty obvious that I needed to phone my GP although my husband wanted me to go to A&E.
My GP had the same feeling and sent me straight to A&E. After Bloods, X Ray and ECG I was told that I still had an infection and that their were a few things ( cant remember the text ) in both lungs which would be the reason for my pain when coughing. I am now back on another set of antibiotics and have to have another xray in six weeks time.
This is now week 5 from having Covid and it feels like much longer but all I keep thinking is roll on Spring and some sunshine. The hardest thing I am finding at the moment is my concentration and general enthusiasm to do anything at all. I keep being told it will take a few more weeks to get over this but I am in a hurry for it to finally settle down. The house could do with a good clean for sure.
I am going for some acupuncture for my neck pain this afternoon which I am really looking forward to. I have tried acupuncture helps in certain parts of my body and some areas react better than others.
Acupuncture points are located on meridians; however, modern acupuncture may also be performed on myofascial trigger points, which are tight areas of connective tissue that can radiate pain.
I am a true advocate for all treatments using pressure points including acupressure mats, pillow, insoles and lots more and I seem to read an article on a regular basis on how it can help with pain especially for Fibromyalgia.
An article on Very Well Health said that Acupuncture for fibromyalgia (FM) has become more common over the years, especially since more and more research has shown the benefits of this treatment. One in five people with fibromyalgia seek acupuncture treatment within two years of diagnosis.
Using complimentary therapies and alternative therapies for Fibromyalgia seems to be the route most used and if this can mean you can cut right down on your drugs then it is definitely worth a try. I was set to try Aqua Yoga tomorrow but I have put it on hold for a couple of weeks. Aqua yoga is as simple as it sounds. It's practicing yoga in the water.
